Psychology
At School Steps, our School Psychologists have the unique opportunity to foster the social, emotional, behavioral and academic growth of students and to help them reach their learning potential in a variety of educational settings. We serve students in traditional public schools, county educational programs, homeschool programs, private schools and charter schools that offer a variety of philosophical approaches. We work closely with all of our School Psychologists to find the perfect match between the School Psychologists’ professional goals and the educational setting they work in. In addition, our School Psychologists are supported by ongoing mentoring by an experienced School Psychologist, cross-disciplinary support from within the company and professional development opportunities. We value professional growth through the pursuit of ongoing training, as well as the application of current research, to ensure that all of our staff stay on top of recent advancements in the field of School Psychology.
Our vision is to understand the unique learning characteristics of each individual child and to support that child in achieving his/her learning potential within an educational setting. To achieve this goal our School Psychologists offer a variety of services including:
- Collaboration with support staff at school sites, as well as within the larger School Steps community
- Assessments in all areas of suspected disability
- Individual and group counseling services
- Behavioral consultation and support
- In-services for teachers and program consultation
- Parent education and referrals to outside agencies for supportive services
